Carmel Portillo

Superintendent/Principal

Hello Belleview Families!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year! This is my ninth year at Belleview and my fourth year as the Superintendent-Principal since first teaching here for five years. I am also a proud Belleview parent, with a daughter finishing middle school this year and son who graduated two years ago. I am honored to continue to be a part of and serve our school community.

Belleview is a special place at the heart of a close-knit community in which I have grown deep roots. I recognize the special impact that each individual teacher has on student success and the vital role of each staff member who together create an excellent place for students to learn and grow.

This is my 18th year in education, having previously taught 2nd through 5th grades in Los Angeles, Los Altos, and abroad in Central America. As an administrator, it is important to me to safeguard Belleview’s long-standing traditions, positive school culture, and our unique, small school environment that are the cornerstones of what make our school so special. Every day, we are driven by our vision of academic excellence and our mission to ensure all students have meaningful learning experiences, empowering them to succeed in an ever-changing world!

I look forward to the future of Belleview with you, and wishing all of our students a successful school year!
